This #CiteBlackWomenSunday we are celebrating our Dr. Black women with Ph.Ds. Let’s start with one of the first Black women to receive her Ph.D. in the United States. DR. Georgiana Rose Simpson earned her Ph.D. In German at the University of Chicago in 1921.
That same year (1921...but a little bit later) DR. Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Alexander was also the first Black woman to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania. #CiteBlackWomenSunday
