Weird how people still treat women with doctorates like they are "rare" when women outpace men in educational attainment at all levels. Last year women earned 53% of all the PhDs
....and recent medical school graduates and students are at gender parity.
Just to be clear, by "all levels" I mean HS diploma all the way through terminal degrees.
To be clear(er) there are 4.5 million people in the US with doctorates (double what it was in 2000). Roughly 1.9 million of them are women (~42%). Between 1920 and 2000 men got 73% of all PhD awarded in the US. That gap got a lot smaller in very short period of time.
