My home state GA is comprised of 159 counties and yesterday evening, @ReverendWarnock held a rally in my hometown of Albany. Albany is located in Southwest GA and this region is oftentimes ignored. What do I mean? #gapol
You’d be hard pressed to find district offices for a campaign (outside of S.Bishop) in this area even though Albany-Dougherty county is a feeder for several SWGA counties (Baker, Crisp, Early, Terrell, Worth, Calhoun, Sumter, etc.) where voters seldom receive candidate visits.
These voters attend/work at the HBCU Albany State University, they are also active duty service members or civilian employees at the federal military installation, healthcare workers, employees at one of the billion dollar brewing/consumer goods companies, farmers, factory/
plant workers, retail/dollar store associates, educators, janitors and so on. They live and work in SWGA. They matter. Normalize coming to and maintaining a presence in rural areas. There’s no excuse or reason that a district office of any campaign shouldn’t exist in SWGA. NOT. 1
This election w/ @ossoff and elections to come are too critical to take the power of any one voter for granted. But in order to gain a vote, a voter must be engaged. SWGA is a rural and by rural I mean Black Brown folks. #gapol
Agriculture is a driver in these areas and if you’re eating chicken, you’re getting a taste of the area too. #gapol
My Big Brother RM said on air on Thursday that he would be in Albany and 48 hours later he was there - covering the event, empowering the crowd, taking his time to talk with people, and snapping pics with everyone that asked for one. Roland showed the hell up. #gapol
Again, you cannot talk about GA without meaningfully engaging rural voters. The last congressional campaign that I worked, I still had voters calling me TWO years after the election to get information. Want to know why?
I went to those rural areas and sat with those constituents at their events - EVEN IF THERE WERE ONLY A FEW PEOPLE THERE! And you know what that did? It bolstered the confidence that they were SEEN & that our office would come to their event & ASK FOR THEIR VOTE no matter the #.
Before I could get up the road they’d telephoned their friends beaming with pride that the campaign SHOWED UP! It wasn’t me, it was the campaign!

Don’t say Georgia if it’s not explicitly clear that you really have folded in all of Georgia!! PLAN an event where presence can be maximized and treat it like you would a metropolitan area with mainstream coverage. Period. #gapol
