Why you should not hit the 'snooze' button ❌

One thing I can do with reasonable comfort is waking up early every day of the week, even on holidays and weekends.

For me, personally, waking up early is a choice and a lifestyle habit, more than a compulsion or a mandated thing.
🙇But when I used to work late into the night or struggle to wake up in the mornings (even up to a year ago) these were the problems I faced.

🤦Hitting the snooze button repeatedly

🤦Feeling sluggish during the day

🤦Irritability and annoyance at little things
All of this is a cumulative effort of one problem: Not getting enough sleep.

👇WHAT IT MEANS👇

😴When you hit the snooze button, that means your body is telling you that you didn't get enough rest.
😴Hitting the snooze button fools you into thinking that you're getting extra sleep but it merely interrupts the REM cycle and disrupts your circadian rhythms.

👇WHAT TO DO:👇

💡Get enough sleep. The average adult needs at least 7 to 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
Sleep deprivation has long-term impact on your memory, concentration, physical health and mental wellness.

💡Wind down without screens 30 minutes to an hour before bed- NO more Instagram scrolling at 11 pm. Sorry

💡Read a paperback in bed- NOT your Kindle or smartphone.
💡Charge your phone in another room- NOT the bedroom.

💡Invest in an alarm clock OR use a device that is not your phone, as an alarm.

💡Keep the alarm on a table at least 3 feet away from your bed, so you have to physically get out of bed to switch it off.
💡Sit for a few seconds instead of crawling back into bed.

If you are STILL hitting the snooze button after trying these tips, that means you aren't getting enough sleep.

Cut back on activities that keep you awake at night and put the focus back on sleep.
