there are people i follow who are clearly mixed (myself included) who i respect as indigenous ppl.

i have indigenous mutuals that complain about one of their mestizo parents, clearly theyre mixed, but i see them as indigenous people. it is politics it is culture it isnt blood.

and plenty of communities in latin america are “mixed” (like cholas in the andean context) but arent mestizo. because racialization and culture. Garifunas are also mixed, not mestizo, plenty of tribes have adopted Black people as well and idc if they zero amerindian blood theyre

Indigenous because of their cultural upbringing. some pueblos DO require you to descend (like many andean pueblos) and allow one to reconnect. but many of us grew up in our culture snd thats what makes us Indigenous. FRIDA is not indigenous.
