I see people are doing the Euphoria "teenagers really don't do that much drugs and sex" discourse again so just to be clear: we absolutely did that many drugs in high school in 2013. Lots of my friends died. Maybe it just wasn't some people's social circle!
Can't speak for the city kids obviously but meth/coke/weed were all very accessible to people around me for most of my life growing up. I started drinking freshman year and would use a fake ID to get cigarettes most of high school. This is all to say...
Where does this panic about teens being depicted having sex/doing drugs/dealing with addiction come from? It actually happens! And by now I am "old" at 25 maybe but in the very recent past high school very much felt like moments in Euphoria lol
this puritanical mindset about drug use/sex does actually obscure the struggles of people all around most of us! I grew up evangelical. Most adults had no idea their kids were on meth because they saw the world through that faux-lens of purity and goodness. hmmmmmm.
(also, just in case people come knocking, I couldn't care less about Euphoria lol. there are better shows girls!)
