Sometimes stat profiles lead you to very interesting players. This just happed to me with RS SO Dalano Banton this season as I need to watch every high major dude who comes close to Covington numbers. One of the most unique players you will find in CBB.

[A scouting 🧵]
At 6'9'' Banton is mostly used as a talll playmaker. Hoiberg probably sees him as the skinny second coming of Royce White. Dalano could tighten up his handle a little bit, but his passing and vision are at a super high level. Could watch him find open shooters all day. 33AST%!
Shows up as a Covington comp because of his insane stock numers, though. Crazy mobile on defense. Rotates well and is very switchable. Could be more physical, but lacks the strength. Yet, makes opponents feel his length at all times. 6.8 STOCK%!
I am really curious how his shooting will progress over the season as a below .3 3P% guy at the moment. Needs some improvement to have at least a little bit of offball gravity. But possesses touch from the line (75 FT%) and on floaters.
Right now his NBA fit is not so clear since he has not shown too much offball value and is not good enough to be a primary. Would put him in the Kyle Anderson mold. However, tall playmakers with that kind of talent and some defensive upside should always be monitored closely.
