A thread of US war crimes by presidential administration since World War II. This is to illustrate that the US regularly gets away with atrocities and our political system never holds its leadership accountable.
-Truman administration: made the United States the only country to ever use nuclear weapons on human beings by dropping two atomic bombs on densely populated cities killing thousands of civilians at once. Also massacred Korean civilians with mass air strikes.
-Eisenhower administration: initiated a coup in Guatemala destabilizing the country; installed a fascist dictator who massacred indigenous people.
-Kennedy Administration: invaded neighboring Cuba in an attempt to destroy their government; paid the Italian mafia to assassinate the leader of Cuba. (mob takes money doesn’t try it)
-L. Johnson administration: launched an invasion of Vietnam in order to stop the sovereign country from choosing its own government which costed tens of thousands of American, Vietnamese, and other nations’ lives.
-Nixon administration: carried out an extensive bombing campaign and used a highly carcinogenic herbicide to destroy plant life in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia killing hundreds of thousands. The effects of agent orange still give people cancer and cause still births to this day.
—Nixon is forced to resign or face impeachment.
“Oh good one of these criminals faces consequences.”
“Oh no actually, it’s because he got caught spying on political rivals. No one in the administration’s leadership faced any consequences for the war crimes in Vietnam.” —
-Ford administration: provided military aid to Turkey in their aggressive invasion of Cyprus despite congress passing a bill to halt it.
-Carter administration: supported self determination and human rights, reduced intervention and aggression toward foreign countries.
“Oh good, so the US started moving away from war crimes?!”

“Haha no. Carter was a one term president. Buckle up.”
-Reagan administration: sold weapons to Iran and used the money to fund, arm, and train Nicaraguan terrorists who murdered civilians and destabilized the nation. Also continued to sell over 2,000 missiles to Iran and supported their invasion of Iraq without telling congress.
-Bush administration: pardoned the previous administration’s Secretary of State before his trial could begin; invaded Panama, in a war of aggression, destroying their government, and destabilizing the nation.
-Clinton administration: destroyed a pharmaceutical production factory in Sudan which supplied the majority of the nation’s medicine; cut off Iraq from its own resources leading to mass starvation and disease.
—Clinton is impeached.
“Well it’s about time one of these war criminals is held accountable.”
“Oh no. Not for that. He was impeached for having sex with a White House intern.” (Which he deserved to be impeached for, but I’d say the war crimes were a lot worse) —
-W. Bush administration: launched an invasion predicated upon outright lies costing millions of Iraqi and thousands of American lives and leading to ISIS taking over the nation (1/2)
W. Bush administration (continued): used bombs filled with depleted uranium on densely populated civilian areas killing civilians and continuing to cause cancer and infant deaths to this day.
-Obama administration: killed thousands of civilians in an aggressive drone strike program, and overthrew Libya’s government making it a hotbed of terrorism and open human trafficking.
-Trump administration: increased yearly civilian deaths in an even more aggressive drone striking program, increased weapons dealings with Saudi Arabia and supported their genocide against neighboring Yemen.
—Trump is impeached.
“Finally a war criminal is being held accountable for these countless atrocities?”
“Umm no. He got impeached for leveraging his office to get dirt on a political rival.”
