📝 Me (in January): How can we make R&D more of a priority for the public? It feels so distant from daily life.

🗓️ 2020: Hold my drink…

So what are my hopes for R&D advocacy in 2021? 👇
2/ Even setting Covid aside, this year has been a powerful cocktail:

✅ 1 part R&D Roadmap
✅ 3 parts Spending Review
✅ A hint of ARPA
✅ Decorate with 2x Science Ministers

With solid first steps towards the Government’s £22bn target, next year must sustain that progress.
3/ So how do we build the 2020's into the 'R&D Decade'?

We worked with @sciencecampaign and @PublicFirst_PF to explore how the sector's advocacy will need to evolve.

Here's my thread on our findings 👇 https://twitter.com/Ben_Bleasdale/status/1280398150109409280
4/ And the ones to watch in 2021? Well, my bets are:

🏢 fECs and sustainability in R&D
💵 Using science as a stimulus to reboot GDP
🌐 A new direction for GCRF

Plus an exciting announcement from our R&D Decade work - watch this space for details!
