Equity and inclusion work is difficult and uncomfortable. Instead of opening their mouths to represent a constituency that will not like the work when they are uncomfortable, city council members need to keep their mouths shut and figure out what they can and will do.
Boulder thinks it can continue getting away with this "celebrating diversity" without practicing it. The community will shrink if they do that, and it will be seen as a lower status community because higher status young people will flock to places that represent their values.
There has been a faction of council railing against the tech workers blaming them for the rising cost of housing. It is not going to be just the community's land use craziness keeping the tech folks out.
It will be the companies themselves choosing to grow in places that can accommodate the diversity that their employees expect.
