The first US shipment of Pfizer‘s COVID-19 vaccine has arrived at Lansing Regional Airport to be shipped all over the country.
Doors open! Time to unload.
Here are the boxes of the vaccines getting hand loaded into the cargo containers. Where is incredible incredible thing to see.
For the real aviation or logistic nerd out there it appears UPS will be using the AAY cargo container.
The containers are being loaded onto the aircraft. De-icing is complete. This plane should be on the air and the vaccine will be begin distribution across the US tonight!
Aircraft is buttoned up. Clearance has been received. De-icing complete. It’s now a race between FedEx at GRR and UPS at LAN for who is in the air first.
But! It looks like FedEx wins the race. And the first doses of vaccine in the US are airborne from GRR to be distributed mostly to the West Coast.
And away it goes! The beginning of the end of the COVID-19 pandemic as first shipments of a vaccine are in the air.
