My daughter is higher needs autistic.

Read this thread and rt if you follow me.

She’s an absolutely wonderful, kind, loving, funny, smart person.

social skills? Extremely low. Non verbal until 4-5. And still her speaking skills are lower than my 3 year old.
She’s ahead in many other areas, she can type very well.

Math reading creatively etc she’s ahead of most NT kids her age.

She’ll be online one day, there’s lots of autistic folks who don’t have the type of social skills to talk easily offline but can have a social life online
This is why I’ve been pushing back against this ridicule of tone indicators so much.
This is why I’ve been saying the shit I have. This is why I didn’t ignore it. Even though I mostly do not need tone indicators.

Even though I am not sold on them being a workable solution
Lower needs autistic folks CONSTANTLY throw higher needs folks under the bus. It’s pick me shit. It’s truscum with non binary folks, it’s gay people throwing trans people under the bus.

Your behavior is no different, ableism towards autistics is just more accepted.
It isn’t “infantilizing” for these folks to ask that their needs be addressed and discussed.

For you to think these needs are child like shows how little you think about higher needs autistics.

How far our community has to come
Just because you can mask well enough or can navigate interpersonal stuff well enough that you personally don’t have the issues trying to be addressed.

Doesn’t mean there ain’t autistic people who’s lives could be greatly improved by being able to understand context easier.
And to the NTs making jokes at the expense of this whole situation? You’re trash.

Although I’m sure the type of the people im addressing will just dismiss this and say I’m “posting through it” 🥰
This whole idea that autistics should conform to NT society that some of u lower needs folks are spewing?

It’s the reason ABA, considered traumatic to those who have had to go through it. Is the “therapy” for autistic folks.

It’s the reason autism sp*aks exists.
