Today's reading suggestion: classic piece on separation of powers by Prof Ackerman, arguing against the export of the US Presidential model. Those in India who think isomorphic mimicry of the US system will solve all our problems definitely need to read: https://abdet.com.br/site/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/The-New-Separation-of-Powers.pdf
Good survey of political science data on the different governmental systems. Linz's showed strong correlation b/w presidentialism & democratic instability. Cheibub reversed the causal connection, claiming unstable states tend to choose presidentialism. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/1351034042000317989?scroll=top&needAccess=true&journalCode=fdem20
Either way, there is no case for a parliamentary system adopting presidentialism, except the following 'logic' (aka isomorphic mimicry):
1. US has presidentialism.
2. US is rich & democratic.
3. Let us adopt presidentialism.
1. US has presidentialism.
2. US is rich & democratic.
3. Let us adopt presidentialism.
