Most of the death happened due to occupation of elephant corridors, walls, loss of elephant habitat & dams. 4 U valleys been occupied by politically linked institutions. They restricts elephant movements. Agriculture, resorts, clubs, colleges, Brick clines also contributed 2/3
Bhavanisagar dam also big hurdle in the main elephant corridor which connects Eastern ghats with Western Ghats (Nilgiris). Coimbatore division is part of the most sensitive Nilgiri Biosphere reserve with largest number of elephant and tigers..etc in single continuous location 3/3
