In this week's issue of #AFCRankingWeekly, we'll cover Thailand. They managed to rank 4th in the East Region in 2019. As a result, Thailand will have two clubs that will immediately enter the group stage. They will also have two clubs entering the play-off stage.

The Thai club's performance is actually not very consistent. In 2016, Thailand only got 1 ranking point. However, they showed excellent performance in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. In these two seasons, Thai clubs managed to qualify for the round of 16 in ACL.

This excellent performance together with Australia's poor performance managed to put Thailand in 4th position.

Almost all of Thailand's ranking points were contributed by two clubs, Buriram United and Muangthong United @MuangthongUtd. To be precise, ninety-three percent of Thailand's points are awarded by these two clubs.

Unfortunately, these two clubs will not participate in the 2021 AFC Champions League. It will be interesting how Thailand will do without Buriram and Muangthong. Hopefully they will put on a good performance too.

Starting from this issue of #AFCRankingWeekly, we are adding another section called Slot Projection to see how their slots will be allocated in the 2023 season. This calculation is not final and will be completed by the end of the 2021 season.

Currently, Thailand is still in 4th place. They have a big gap from Korea Republic which is currently in 3rd position. If DPR Korea participates in 2021 AFC Cup, they will be a country to worry about. DPR Korea is currently in 5th position, only 7 points away from Thailand.

If DPR Korea not participates, then Thailand will have to watch Vietnam which currenly in 6th spot. Let's see what Thailand can do in 2021!
