I'm puzzled by the state of the AI community today regarding ethics. It's so difficult to assess that not even @le_science4all has a complete picture. This is very problematic because he is the only real Curator of this community today. At this moment we live in a post-truth...
world and no source is really trustworthy, my current solution is to trust in curators like Lê not to give an opinion but to rather offer an exhaustive examination of the important details. Having said this I believe I must give some of the reasons for my conundrum...
1. AI ethics IS important, this is not a joke, recommendation systems are ubiquitous nowadays and they affect BILLIONS of people. These companies can shape elections, lives, and even have a lot of good. None of this is to take lightly.

2. Communicating this in the public sphere(i.e Twitter) is clearly NOT the way to solve this problem. Everything now is public or can be made public(chat conversations, slack channels,...) is a real mess. People cannot have a conversation without fearing becoming a scandal...
and this is very problematic for ANY company, small or big. There is no trust in a good-faith conversation. Sadly I believe this is similar to an autoimmune disease, and I'm not exaggerating when I say this, google is killing itself from the inside...
I don't know what is the solution, some people say that we should implement something like coinbase: https://bit.ly/3gFFq53 and be a mission-based company. It is unclear what is the path to follow. I hope we get out of this mess. (End)
