Free advice to Hindus who probably won’t care to listen. Badgering ordinary Jews for using the term #Swastika is not going to change its popular usage but only going to backfire.
The process of replacing usage of the word #Swastika with the original Hakenkreuz and creating awareness of appropriation is a slow process which needs to be done with sensitivity and empathy.
Hindus need to reach out to their Jewish allies with empathy to create awareness for the term Hakenkreuz while acknowledging their pain and the history associated with it. For Jews, the word ‘Swastika’ has become an synonymous with terror and it will take time to change that.
We definitely need to create awareness and express our views about appropriation, eurocentricity etc but harassing Jews when they are raising awareness about hate crimes, is the most ridiculous and counterproductive way to go about it.
If there is anyone you should badger on the internet, it is the fucking white supremacists who did the appropriation of #Swastika and who continue to do it even now. They are also appropriating bunch of other pagan and indigenous symbols by the way. Protest that.
