1)I really want to wander over to Parler and ask the “time to rise up!” people ... and then what? What strategic goals are the going to seize, what are they going to do differently? Are they going to enforce laws, regulations, gather taxes? Running a country is BORING, bubba.
2) Going to take control of DC? This country’s huge, nobody gives a shit if you control DC, it’s not even Top Ten urban areas. Seize your state governments? What fucking good does that do, most of the states are under 5 million people, you’d have fraction of the population.
3) Even in those states, 40 (at least) of the population hates your guts. Texas is inches from being majority blue, you going to take them with you? You going to occupy those hostile territories? You know what that takes - a FUCKING STANDING ARMY. And even then you ALWAYS FAIL.
4) Ask the Brits how much fun that is. And that’s in a country the size of Ireland. Jesus Murphy, I like a good revolution as much as the next fellow but they’re fucking *hard*.
5) This is the price we’re paying for legitimizing political cosplay. For the fictionalization of American life. The line from “cowboy” Reagan to Rancher George W. Bush runs right through “working class militia” driving $80k trucks and white boys playing at race war.
6) you want to change your local governance? Run for school board. But that’s boring and not as macho as growing a ridiculous beard and stroking your AR.

FFS it’s going to be ten years of mass shootings and car bombs, all “lone wolves”, and it’s predictable as goddam sunrise.
7) We let too many people fantasize about being heroes for too long, instead of glorifying being responsible for each other, and this is what we’ll reap. A generation of Founding Father cosplayers instead of the adults we need to run a country in the 21st Century.
8) A country born in rebellion has fetishized it. And now we can't get shit done, lest 30% of the country has to face reality and suffer a massive cognitive dissonance backlash.
