Langula' Narasinghadeba I, was a powerful monarch and warrior of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty of early medieval Odisha, who reigned from 1238–1264. He defeated Muslim forces of Bengal who constantly threatened them from the times of his father Anangabhima Deva III.
Narasinghadeba I of Eastern Ganga Dynasty was first king from Kalinga & one of the few rulers in India who took offensive against Islamic expansion over India by Turko-Afghan invaders. His father had successfully defended his kingdom against Turko-Afghan rulers of Bengal.
Narasinghadeba I of Eastern Ganga Dynasty, also built the Konark temple to commemorate his victories over the Muslims besides multiple temples as architectural marvels along with the largest fort complex of Eastern India at Raibania in Balasore.
Our young generation must know how Narasinghadeba I of Eastern Ganga Dynasty lead the front against Delhi Sultanate of that times and they were so frightened that the qazi Minhaj-us-siraj declared this as a holy war against the Hindus. He defeated Tughril Tughan Khan of Rarh.

The description of these events of slaughtering of a whole Muslim army by the Odia forces, was written by Narasinghadeba II inhis Sanskrit bronze inscription of Kendupatna, who was a
descendant of LangulaNarasinghadeba, of Eastern Ganga Dynasty.
Battle of Umurdan is also one such battle. Eastern Ganga Dynasty brutally killed Muslims of Bengal at that time that there is no record of any direct Muslim invasion of Odishan territory for at least the next 100 years, due to aggressive expeditions in Bengal by Narasinghadeba I
Narasinghadeba I of Eastern Ganga Dynasty, is mentioned as Paramamahesvara, Durga-Putra & Purushottamaputra inChandrashekhera temple inscription. He was a protector & a follower of Shaiva, Shakti & Jagannath sects during his rule. This temple is also known as Kapilash temple.
The time period of Eastern Ganga Dynasty was the Golden period of Odishan History.
