Humans exchanged ‘rings’ since 5,000 years ago, ancient Egypt.
It represented something, they called them: ‘rings of love’. Now a days humans calls them ‘engagement rings’. BIG change.
The word we use: ‘engagement’. Our ancestors used ‘love’.

How on earth, love became an ‘engagement’ over the centuries? But it did.
Now a days if you want to be seriously in love, you need to be seriously engaged as well.
This ‘engagement’ is a downgrade from the original plan.

What started as a symbol of love & mating between humans, became a symbol of engagement.
An act of liberal sexual reproduction gets you involved with families, extended families, the clergy, and the state. And seriously? all you wanted was to have sex & have children.

I don’t see the logic in that, i’m sorry. You are ruining the concept. When you choose a woman to mate for both of you its a bet that your brains & DNAs will produce better than you children, HOPING that you would do that in a happy loving environment. That is the concept.

Back to the rings, i got engaged
is it engagement? Or is it love? Its both actually. Wish us that our engagements do not kill our love
