1/ If anyone didn’t watch the exchange between @GlennLoury and @JohnHMcWhorter it’s a “debate” between someone who feels bad for the Woke types, and an ideology that has them under its control, and someone who feels they should be held more accountable for bad ideas.
At some point John (the more empathetic in this) tells a story of a fight he got into as a young kid, against a slightly bigger girl who was sort of bullying and after he knocked her down, he felt deep remorse and doesn’t want to see people knocked down (in life).
That includes people like NHJ, who has made a career habitually lying and who they agreed would have no hesitation to ruin the life of someone else. But, John’s position is that they are surrounded by bad ideas and internalized them, and sort of feels bad.
So what do people like NHJ, and the usuals like Isaac Bailey and Mansa Keira go on about— how they are obsessed with NHJ, and how John hit a girl once. The transparent dishonesty and the irony in context.
I want to be clear— I love John’s humanity here, but I don’t agree. These are bad people. Consistently so. And they know what they are doing and have zero remorse.
These are the same type of “obsessed” people who go around looking for racism in the closet, misrepresenting people, screenshooting James Lindsay half the day, and keyboard warrioring their virtue. But, that’s fine...
