Sociologists and political pundits need to examine if #FarmersProtests are an expression of larger disconnect developing in the country. Farm laws may have provided a trigger for expression of pent up discontentment with the political class and the way politics is being run.
The Essential Commodities Act and the amended APMC act combined are such that it can lead to horrific consequences for food security of the country. A single entity can stock unlimited quantities and it would be without any registration and nil record with the govt. 2/4
If an inimical power takes over such companies, they would be in a position to create conditions of hunger and pestilence in the country. The govt would be a helpless bystander.

Hence lifting complete stock limits can lead to most deleterious impact not visualised today. 3/4
What we need to understand is that eventually it is the INTENT of law that prevails where words may fail. Simple amendments may not work.
The laws need to be redrafted with farmer as the focus instead of the corporate.
Suspend current laws. Redraft involving stake holders. 4/4
Whatever be the outcome of the #FarmersProtests , the movement shall cause a larger churning in the politics of Punjab. The impact shall be visible in the forthcoming elections in 2022.

People are yearning for a change and the three current political players shall be sidelined.
Such movements invariably leave a larger footprint than meets the eye. Unbridled movement towards neo liberalism may be checked.

India is not yet ready for such a surgical change. Alternative jobs are not on the horizon.
