They have no interest in actually helping people, no interest in solving any of the real problems facing the country and world. It’s not a matter of having different ideas for solving common challenges. It’s all culture war crap and grievance. Oh, and tax cuts.

And it’s not as though the other party is some shining beacon of goodness. There’s stupidity, bigotry, hypocrisy, and often a general disinterest in solving problems on the Dems’ side, as well.

But man, it’s nothing compared to the outright disaster that the Reps seem to embody.

I mean... Trump didn’t actually *run* on any policies during the election. His website seriously did not have an issues page. The GOP didn’t bother to put out an updated party platform. They ran solely on fighting against policies Dems weren’t even pushing for.

“Dems are going to ban police and cancel Christmas and quadruple everyone’s taxes and replace all textbooks with copies of the Communist Manifesto and ... etc.”

That’s basically their whole pitch, just a wild collection of things that don’t actually represent what Dems run on.

When Biden takes office, Reps are going to do everything they can to grind the country to a halt, to make people suffer until the midterms, where they will say that the Dems are the ones who shut things down. And it might work for them! They just want power for the sake of power.

Just the other day I saw a clip of McConnell giving a speech where he claimed that Dems were the ones holding up a COVID relief bill, and all he wanted was to help. But he’s the one who’s been holding it up this whole time, refusing to budge unless he gets unrelated things.

Anyway, I’ve been thinking about the clip at the top of this thread all day, and it just sickens me. Sometimes I think maybe I’m too cynical. Then I see stuff like that and realize maybe I’m not cynical enough.
