16/365 Results of the Universal stem at 20-25 years were published in @BoneJointJ https://online.boneandjoint.org.uk/doi/abs/10.1302/0301-620X.98B11.37668
A wide variety of indications for surgery. #exeterhip is the only primary stem we have on the shelf. All ages and all indications.
Mainly posterior approach (Exeter was designed for the posterior approach but can be used in any approach). Old cups and poly, all cemented in this series. Note the small head sizes at that time.
Outcome of surviving patients
Indications for revision. As suspected with early poly, at 22 years post-op, cup failure is main indication
KM survival. 95.6% all cause stem revision.
Other series of long term THR survival
Look at previous tweets for why the femur is preserved. More to come in the next few weeks. Not a bad looking femur at 20 years post-op. #orthotwitter #ExeterHip50
