First, Jacobin says that Yang’s UBI proposal was actually a “right-wing variant,” with the suggestion being that Yang would gut the social safety net.

But Yang has explicitly noted that while some people are trying to do that, he would never.

Jacobin goes on to misstate the workings of Yang’s UBI, saying that it would “undermine existing entitlements like medicare in order to provide $1,000 a month instead.”

This, of course, is false. Yang’s UBI stacks with medicaid along with most other entitlements.

Next, Jacobin claims that Yang is “outspoken in his opposition to medicare for all.”

The suggestion here is that because Yang didn’t support Bernie’s exact specific version of M4A, Yang must be against M4A.

Yang obviously supports single payer M4A.

Jacobin then claims that Yang would be “pro-cop” because of his reported links with former advisors to Mike Bloomberg, and they highlight a tweet from Yang saying that a cop told him we should stop using lethal force as proof of Yang’s “pro-cop” agenda. Quite the stretch.

But Jacobin goes on: “in the midst of massive civil unrest and a clarion call to defund the police, Yang’s message was clear: let’s hear what the cops have to say.”

Here is Yang’s actual plan to combat police brutality, which includes some defunding.

Lastly, Jacobin says that Yang’s plan to reduce zoning restrictions is “right-wing.”

Jacobin appears to have confused Yang saying “hey guys we gotta get rid of zoning laws that prevent us from building affordable housing next to luxury buildings” as being pro-developer.

7/8
I’m not really sure how Jacobin made that confusion but they did.

Jacobin ends by saying that they regret to inform readers that Yang doesn’t have working class people’s interests at heart.

Well I regret to inform Jacobin that they have no clue what they’re talking about.
