If you're interested in the history of cooked breakfasts, the English Breakfast Society website is a crack up

It's part of the tradition to ignore other people while eating a traditional English breakfast. Do not be offended
It gets better. There's a whole article on the history of black pudding dating back to Homer, clearly a man who liked his black pudding
The article on special English sausages is really something. For full effect you have to read it aloud in a posh English accent
They also have a separate article on "bangers" complete with a poster of "great British bangers" which they then explain is just wartime slang for sausages and not used by Brits unless they are serving them with mashed potatoes
Apparently, no other country has a greater, richer, longer or more intimate relationship with bacon than the UK, and this is very important when choosing ingredients for your cooked English breakfast
