Absolutely. We lost seats like North West Durham and Bolsover that have been Labour forever. Never again should we experience that.

But we also have to win Stevenage, Harlow, Swindon & Harrow East & many many more. We’ve a long way to go.

Rebuilding trust is our priority https://twitter.com/lisanandy/status/1337820261442330626
The ‘project’ thought we could overcome our monumental polling deficit in the election campaign and were keen (against the better judgment of scores of Labour MPs) for the election to go ahead. ‘The Tories will just get smashed’ one shadow cabinet member told me...
Actually shadow cabinet members in ‘safe’ seats lost to Tories. We went down to our worst defeat since the 30s.

We can’t make the same mistakes again. So winning trust is vital. Labour governments fund the NHS, lift children out of poverty and progress social-economic rights.
We need to target areas we lost and those areas where we can to form a government. It’s time for a properly resourced targeting campaign. Let’s not send all the activists to one or two trendy high profile places (where we failed despite all the hype) to take the scalps.
Some say rerun 2017 we nearly won.Did we balls. We were 64 seats behind. We nearly knocked out May from forming govt but that’s a long way from majority Labour govt.

And we take comfort in not getting smashed as one of Jeremy most historically loyal colleagues predicted to me
I know some of the twitter bores will say ‘aha that phone call’ but I wasn’t wrong was I?! And I thought I was exaggerating to that right daft pollock. More fool me. But we can’t do this again. Towns and communities like Mansfield, Bury and Ashfield are traditionally Labour.
So our priority is winning again in Bolton & Bury as well a Mansfield & Ashfield plus Stevenage & Watford. We’ll focus on their concerns and nothing will distract us. And campaigning for a public, funded NHS to brings waits down will be key.
