1. I was so tied up with #Covid19 stuff yesterday I forgot to look at FluView, @CDCgov's weekly #flu report. Let's take a look to see whether flu activity is continuing to hold at low levels.
Thread.
2. The quick answer is yes. Still remarkably little #flu activity in the US, Canada & Europe.
It's still early. And in the US, it could be a week or two still before you'd expect to see the effect of all that Thanksgiving travel on flu transmission — if there is going to be one.
3. In Canada, they're looking for but not seeing much flu at all. Only southern Ontario is reporting "localized" flu spread.
4. In Europe, the European CDC says there've only been 288 notifications of flu across the region so far this season.
Last week, of 1000 samples tested at sentinel testing sites, none came back positive for influenza.
5. So to date #flu activity remains very low. But it is not non-existent. Unfortunately, the @CDCgov has received a report of a pediatric flu death, the first for this season. The child died in the week ending Nov. 28. Sad to see this.
