Not sure #Nebraska will have any fans left in the next generation. I became a fan when I was 8 years old because I would hear my dad tell stories of #Huskers football and the players that set the foundation of success within that program (1/ )
Then I saw it come to fruition in the National Championship in ‘98 when they just completely dismantled Peyton Manning and Tennessee. I got a taste of it. My love for the #Huskers grew each passing year....only to never get that feeling again (2/ )
Year after year went by and Nebraska was good to great most seasons. Made it back to the National Championship in 2001 only to get destroyed by one of the best college football teams ever in Miami. Then things started going downhill (3/ )
Nebraska fired Solich two years later, brought in Callahan and completely wrecked the program. Still stayed a fan through all of it...then came Pelini and the “return” of the Blackshirts. Everything was going to get better...(4/ )
It kind of did for the most part. Had one of the top defenses in 2009 thanks to Ndamukong Suh, should’ve beaten top ranked Texas in the Big 12 championship, but ever since that moment, Pelini could never win the “big one” (5/ )
So we fire Pelini and bring in the program destroyer in Mike Riley. Worst three years I’ve been a part of as a #Huskers fan, but I still remained a fan. And Scott Frost was supposed to save it all (6/ )
But he is undoubtedly made it worse. Empty promises, unearned arrogance, lack of accountability and discipline have run rampant throughout the program and it all stems from the one guy who was supposed to fix it all. He has done more harm than good will lose fans in droves (7/ )
But I won’t be that fan. I’ll still cheer every Saturday, but I will expect the same outcome if things don’t get fixed in a hurry. I look at my son and when he gets older I can tell him all he wants about things that happened 20 before he was born, but for what? (8/ )
Why should he care about things that happened before he was even born? I got to see the success. He might not ever. If they don’t start producing wins, apathy will hit this program and its fans like a ton of bricks....if it hasn’t already (9/ )
So thanks @coach_frost , and see you next Saturday. Go #Huskers
