I won't deny that it was an interesting episode, and I look forward to finding out how what's going on in the past mirror universe will affect the present prime universe. It could be pretty neat!!

However, I regret that we have the amazing Michelle Yeoh playing... space hitler. I hate Emperor Georgiou. She's horrible and she's done horrible things. Having to sit through this exploration of her character to further the plot is... gross to me.

I feel like we're being set up for a villain redemption arc, which isn't bad per se, but even for a franchise about love and acceptance... I don't want to see Georgiou redeemed. I want to see her get hit with the consequences of her actions.

I'd like to see a greater reconciliation in Trek of the fact that sometimes people are too evil to redeem, and that victims should NEVER feel forced to forgive or come to terms with their aggressors. Georgiou is violent and hateful. What is there to forgive?

I really want to hope that the writers/producers understand the above, but so far to me, it feels like the setup for "oh but she's Changed™"

I think the mirror universe DOES have a role in Trek to serve as a foil to the prime Federation, but that's where the line should be drawn. Diving "deep" into an empire of hateful, genocidal fascists is... well, what nuance is there? It *isn't* that deep.

We have to deal enough with hateful, fascist, genocidal-wannabe people all the time IRL with racism being very much alive and well in our society. By being a foil, the mirror universe can allow for analysis of IRL hate, but... that should be its only use.

This is why I've lost interest in the mirror universe in the last year or so, and why people who are obsessed with it make me uncomfortable. It's one thing to appreciate villains, but to base all your stories, OCs, and overall love of Trek in that setting...

TL;DR, can we be done with helping Georgiou? Please? Leave her in the mirror universe where she belongs. There's an infinite number of other aspects of humanity that can be explored *without* having to open portals to dimensions where all humans are horrible.
