The @wsj obviously feeling left out on the clickbait stakes, publishes an op-ed by a sourpuss man who conflates his honorary doctorate with @drbiden’s examined one, and says all PhDs are pathetic because we don’t have to give vivas in ancient greek blah blah blah.
I'm not even interested in the debate as to which "doctor" came first. PhDs don't pretend to be medical doctors – although I know quite a lot of MDs who pretend to know about quite a lot of things they haven't studied (or don't understand) but that's another discussion
I realised months ago that the reason why a certain klatch of South African men were so put out by me adding 'Dr' to my twitter handle – was all because they were MAGAlytes and they resented @drbiden even from Johannesburg
I spent nearly seven years working on my PhD. I am not only proud of my work, but also the process I had to go through to do the work, and to be successfully examined by a *panel of professors from three different universities* in order to pass.
Anyone who suggests it's not hard, that PhDs don't have value, that PhDs have not earned the title of doctor, usually have no idea of what is involved in getting one.

Also, notice how it's always women PhDs who are the target of this male ire?
The other reason why so many particularly white men like to denigrate modern PhDs is because they also can't stand to see black students or students of colour earn the title. Because it was only "done properly" at a time when only white males were granted access to university.
what I almost hate the most about the @WSJ piece is that it dismisses @DrBiden's thesis based on the author's vacant understanding and mockery of *the title of her thesis*. It's so puerile. it's like he stared at academia his whole life, and never really grasped its merits.
Anyway, to borrow from Beyoncé the best revenge is your paper. I hope in my life to be able to encourage and even enable as many women as possible to get their PhDs so that I can also have the joy of calling them doctor on their graduation days.
