The professional players in esports who interest me the most isn't necessarily the FPS aim gods, the mechnical masters, or the bonjwa's of macro and micro. Those players are fascinating in honing a very specific part of their craft, and they are no doubt masters of the game.
But the ones who truly impress me, are the ones who naturally takes on a leadership role within their game, community and team. Their drive is second-to-none, their passion is unwavering, and their ambition far surpasses that of momentary glory. The esports leaders.
They will go beyond their love of playing the game. They spend every waking moment thinking about the game, their team and the future, while still engaging with the community, fulfilling their commercial commitments, follow the broader industry and have an opinion on everything.
We may not be reviewing their VOD's to the same extent, or remember them with the same fiery glory as Faker, S1mple or Flash, and their flaws are sometimes as evident as the average Joe - both in and out of game - but their persistence and resolve is otherworldly.
They're the very same people that we see continue their careers within the industry, elevating our scene and putting their evergrowing passion and ambition to use in any way they can. People like cArn, Ocelote, Loda, Reginald to name a few. Leaders from day 1, and continue to be.
