watching the pro-ship discourse community slowly tear each other apart is... interesting, to say the least. OBVIOUSLY i am very pro-ship, i don't think there's any harm in doing wtfever you want with fictional characters. the issue is kids not understanding boundaries--
and being raised on the internet without adults who can teach them that NOT everything is for them. everyone is going to encounter situations that make them uncomfortable and a valuable life lesson is learning a) the world doesn't revolve around you;
b) people like what they like, and if it's doing no harm, it doesn't fucking matter; c) harm is NOT synonymous with "this makes me feel uncomfy and yucky because i don't understand healthy boundaries and project on this character"
but i'm quickly becoming suspicious of the really vocal pro-shippers. i'm sure some have pure intentions and are just fucking sick antis slipping into adult spaces and throwing fits. but so much of it is just equally for clout as the ppl they're calling out &
WAY WAY WAY more worrisome is how many are being exposed as actual predators who are using the pro-ship label as a front to be insidious bc "it's just fandom, it isn't real." the second real minors are involved, no, there IS an issue.
