Well, I'm 15 now ever since I could remember I've always been a fan of J.cole. I've been around Rap all my life and J.cole are one those artist that I've heard a lot growing up. I've always heard of Projects like Friday Night Lights, Born Sinner, and of course 2014 FHD.
Just off those Albums alone, I knew he was one of my favorite artists. But Fast forwarding December 9, 2016, the release date of 4 Your Eyez Only. I was 11 at the time so I don't think I listened to it on its release date but I did hear it not too long after and ever since
my first listen I fell in love with the album as a whole. There wasn't one
song that I disliked on the album every song hit me starting with the first song "For whom the bell tolls" this song being the first on the album at the very beginning u can hear it start with a cassette-
song that I disliked on the album every song hit me starting with the first song "For whom the bell tolls" this song being the first on the album at the very beginning u can hear it start with a cassette-
tape. It's a short song but in this song, he talks about the death of a long-time friend "James McMillan Jr" and possibly the death of the rap game as he feels it coming to an end it could have multiple meanings. and that what i like about this album you could easily
take this album how you want this album is J. Cole's story to his long lost friend's children but u can interpret it any way you want into your own life situations and that's why I fell in love with this song and album because it was a way to cope with my problems without -
talking to someone about and it was like that for a while. It got to the point where I wouldn't speak to anyone really because I would listen to this album and others to like talk 17 and Tpab to listen to. But getting back on track in the next song "Immortal" he changes the tone
a bit while talking about his friend's perspective of a drug dealer and his own as an artist. Ville mentality the 4th song on the album which some people dislike but it was one of my favorites out of the 10 songs on the album. In this particular song Cole talks about mainly flee-
ing from his hometown to new york and using expensive jewelry and materialistic things to cope with his defeatist mentality. On shes mine pt 1 from the POV of his late friend James McMillan Jr. While the narrative focuses primarily on McMillan, Cole draws inspiration from his
own experiences and parallels McMillan’s story to his upbringing in Fayetteville. The back-and-forth voices in the outro seem to be Cole’s way of intertwining his and James' stories about finding love. Well I dont wanna drag this thread on for too long it already kind of lengthy
so let's appreciate the rest of the songs such Change, Neighbors, Foldin Clothes, She’s Mine, Pt. 2 and talk about the title song 4 Your Eyez Only. This song to me is one of the best storytelling songs of the decade I listen to the full 8 minutes every time. This song is one of
the most important songs to me taught me so many lessons. In this song, cole reveals this song is about his long-lost friend and shares his story and his message to his daughter. The beat, the bars the flows everything about this song is just beautiful to me i dont know how to
really and truthfully explain the song it's something you have to listen to on your own time. Well there are some songs i didn't cover and all but this thread is long but this is actually my first thread i actually kind of tried on so yeah if u dont like 4yeo I really consider
