I've lived in #CarrickOnSuir for 5 years now. Having moved from Waterford City in 2015, I've found the people here to be the most friendly and welcoming of people. And I'm very happy here. Yet I have to say, the town is struggling due to years (decades?) of political neglect 1/?
The local economy is depressed. The unemployment rate in #CarrickOnSuir is estimated at 30%. Local infrastructure is underdeveloped. Connectivity and access to the town by public transport is woeful. Bus routes have been cut. The train service is, to be polite, "restricted". 2/
The suspension of convalescent, respite and palliative care facilities in the town is, I feel, the final straw. It's such a kick in the teeth. I respectfully ask @DonnellyStephen, @MaryButlerTD and @HSELive to revisit this decision. This cannot be allowed to happen #savestbrigids
