Women of God,

I’ve said before that biblical womanhood isn’t found in trying to exemplify the biblical woman, but exemplifying Christ, and biblical femininity naturally follows.

So when considering a potential husband, I encourage and implore you:

Don’t test him against one of the countless definitions of biblical manhood.

Test him against Christ.

He ought to be an image of Him, counting himself no more highly than he ought, but laying down his life for you and the church.

Test his fruit against the fruit of the Spirit.

He ought to be
loving,
joyful,
peaceful,
patient,
kind,
good,
faithful,
gentle,
self-controlled.

Let the full revelation of scripture be your plumb line, not what is trending in culture or even potentially the church of this era.

There are countless riches found in relationship with a truly Christ-like man, and until/if he comes, in contented, Christ-centered singleness.
