Billie Barry was born into a musical and theatrical family in Dublin, and started to perform as a singer when she was aged just five. As a young woman, she toured Britain and Ireland as part of the Barry Sisters singing group.

In 1964, Billie founded the @billiebarryss (stage school). For decades, she taught children how to sing, dance, do musical theatre & pantomime. Some of Ireland's most well-known performers got their start with her & her influence on thousands of children was enormous.

Children from her school were regular performers on the famous annual #LateLateToyShow. Many of Billie's former students attended her funeral in 2014. Female former students include #AngelineBall, #SamanthaMumba, #LisaLambe & #RuthAnneCunningham.
