UNI AD David Harris confirmed this morning that the COVID-19 test that caused Green Bay to back out of today’s basketball game was a false positive. A tier 1 individual within UNI’s program had a positive antigen test on Thursday, but follow-up test results came back negative. https://twitter.com/wcfcourier/status/1337818272356556800
A second test was immediately administered and came back negative. An additional antigen test on Friday was negative. A PCR test (gold standard for COVID testing) was also administered on Friday.
Green Bay was waiting for the result before making the trip. When a result wasn't back by 5 p.m., they canceled the game. The PCR test result came back negative later Friday night, but by then the game had already been called off.
