1859 the Croton Aqueduct a complex water system brining water 41 miles that fed central park water system, replaced in 1910 with the New Croton Aqueduct and taken offline in 1955
High Bridge was originally completed with 16 individual stone arches. In 1928, the five that spanned the Harlem River were replaced by a single 450-foot steel arch.
some of the old Croton system remains much of it converted, repurposed, integrated, removed and destroyed
