Migrants are beaten when placed onto planes for deportation by Canadian borders guards. If they don't comply, flights are chartered to remove them.

Saeed Jama who was placed on such a chartered flight was smuggled out of the Mogadishu airport in an airline uniform and kidnapped until his parents paid a ransom. Immigration officials have on numerous occasions created false documents, suppressed information that contradicted them or forced people to sign saying they are citizens of country they are not as a condition for being released.

In fact deaths at the hands of immigration officials are common. There are at least 18 deaths in immigration detention custody but many names are unknown.

There is Robert Dziekanski who arrived at the airport and was held for 10 hours and interrogated without a translator. In its own audit of immigration detention, CBSA was told that detentions were rife with inaccuracies and inconsistencies and uncritical reliance on officers.
The auditor recommended REOPENING ALL long term DETENTION cases. This was never done.

Central to the deportation regime is double punishment: Conviction for a crime results in status being revoked.
