Who is Yuvraj? What did he mean to India?

Ind started strong but soon lost the way when India lost @sachin_rt @SGanguly99, Rahul Dravid in the span of 7 overs & 24 runs.
In came @YUVSTRONG12 at no. 5 against Lee, Mcgrath and Gillespie. The youngster showed exemplary temperament, composure and technique to play a gritty 84 run innings that helped India beat the then World Champions by 20 runs.
Yuvraj for me back then was an example of prodigy and talent.

He was joined by U19 WC capt @MohammadKaif who had just debut a series back. Yuvi showed game awareness as he made sure he took most of the strike in the early part of the partnership to give his friend and 1st capt a breather. The innings included..
..some exemplary drives, hooks, leg glances. While he couldn't stay till the end, his innings made sure India were in the hunt that was later turned into history by his U19 teammate and capt. @MohammadKaif
The innings and his comeback series (the earlier one where he avg 155 vs Zim in the 2 matches he was part of) made Yuvraj an example of being sedulous and gritty.

3 time World champion, 2 time runner up. If one mentions Yuvraj and doesn't mention his big match/world event performances then one must have not seen Yuvraj at all. The answer for what was Yuvraj ---lies in these tournaments. Yuvraj was a big match player. Period 
His romance with big games started in the U19 WC when he scored 68 off 62 balls vs NZ and took 4/36 in an important group game. Second, his romance vs Aus in a knockout game was not in 2000 CT QF but here in U19 WC when he scored 58 runs off just 25 balls.. yeah 25 balls!!
He scored 240 runs in 11 games at an avg of 35 and SR of 87 in the 2003 WC. The WC included a game where he helped Ind chase 273 by scoring a 50. Second he helped Ind, by scoring quick 42 off 38 balls, set Eng a challenging 250 that later proved enough and 58 vs Kenya that..
..helped India avoid a shocker (yes Ind were 3/24 and 4/108 chasing 225!).
His 2003 burst followed a senior Yuvraj that made the world stand on his feet in aww. He followed India's 2007 50 over exit by helping India win 2007 T20 WC where he scored at a SR of 194.

What followed this triumph was even bigger. 2011 World cup in India. While India had an AR captaining the side in 1983 to win what was our 1st. The AR of 2011 was the player of the tournament to what became our 2nd biggest moment in ODIs. 9 M 362 runs at an avg 90(yep)
SR 87, 15 wickets at an avg 25. Be it dismissing Younus Khan in a crictical semi final chase or to eliminate Au...(ya you got it, right) from World cup QF. Yuvraj was right there. These WC heroics made him a symbol of self-confidence, and belief in one's own ability.
So what was Yuvraj - A conquerer (was in top 10 MO batters in terms of avg (41) from period 2004-09.
An Athlete - 84 catches (among top 12 fielders from 2000-2012). Be it 2002 CT SF vs SA where @YUVSTRONG12 took 3 catches (absolute gold) or Sydney 2004.

Yuvraj and good catches were a must in India's win.
An Allrounder - Yuvraj was a workhorse. As image shows.. He was right up there when it came to facing balls as a batsmen or bowl as a bowler. (2004-08 across formats) he was among top batters who bowled atleast 1000 balls.

Cricket teaches many things. Cricketers life can teach us a lot more than one can anticipate. A player, a fighter like Yuvraj and off the field life has been a lesson to every one in the world. Be in fighting a cancer or be it sacrificing his fav sport for the love..
Of his dad.. His life in the end became a lesson -- a symbol of a man who sacrificed, a man who fought, a man who gave his all for the country. The man who was born today (12Dec). We salute you. We bow to you. Amen.
