I was going to save this appreciation for #communitycollege English profs until my son turned in his final papers Monday. But it seems a good day to talk abt the kind of expertise it takes to teach the absolutely critical skill of effective written communication. 1/
My son's prof has a grad degree & 20+ yrs experience. Her college writing class is *fantastic.* The scaffolding for each assignment is so smartly designed that she can lead students up a very steep trajectory of requirements, w the final paper 4x more complex than the 1st. 2/
I am def taking notes for my own teaching. My historian spouse formally trained as a writing instructor, & as a prof of many 
decades he too is super impressed w her approach. My kid's exp is the most impt part of course - real learning is happening and being generalized! 3/

Both of my kids have had great experiences w comm college across a range of subjects so I wasn't super surprised. But the quality here is really something to appreciate. 4//
