English has become language of science as most of the research is published in English only journals. Still there are few journals which publish abstract / whole paper in non-English native languages. English tops the chart of most spoken language in the world. #GlobalScienceShow
First of all, let’s know the language diversity of #ScienceTwitter or #AcademicTwitter. How many languages can you read/write/speak proficiently? #GloabalScienceShow #SciComm
Communicating Science in languages other than English is also significant as large share of world’s population don’t use English. A common language helps researchers understand the science, but not the non-English speakers/readers. #SciComm #GlobalScienceShow
Do you read or listen any science content/news in language(s) other than English? If yes, please share about it. #SciComm #GlobalScienceShow
Effective #SciComm is necessary to share knowledge, get feedback and specially reduce the chances of misinformation, pseudoscience, and myths. Effective science outreach helps public to be aware of world of science & technology. #GlobalScienceShow
Science Journalism is another branch where media houses if employ writers with science background, will help keep the scientific message intact and minimize the communication gap in the articles. Jargon free stories achieve more goals. #SciComm #GlobalScienceShow
Researchers can participate in #SciComm activities in different languages as per the requirements of local population. Examples: delivering lectures, storytelling, social media, podcast, writing science articles for newspapers, magazines, blogs, etc.
There are many papers on effective #SciComm I will recommend this one: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fcomm.2020.00031/full
Do you participate in any #SciComm activity in language(s) other than English? If yes, please share your experience. #GlobalScienceShow
