WHY I WANT LEVI TO QUIT THE SURVEY CORPS.

This is just my opinion feel free to disagree and argue with me! Cause I can clearly see both points!!This is also my first time doing something like this so yeah!

1/? Levis morals before the corps//
Levi only cared about Isabel, Farlan and those struggling in the underground e.g He helped Isabel bring the bird up and he followed Farlans words to believe in them and accepted a deposit for a job which was someone getting medical treatment.

-he never cared about humanity aboveground or the titans.
2/? Levis mission//
He went undercover to kill Erwin in order to gain citizenship for him and his friends aboveground. Once again doing things for his friends, not considering how humanity would be affected without Erwin-

-cause he doesn’t care.
3/? Why did Levi join fr?//
Levis family died,and he’s lost. Erwin then convinces him to join, Levi is hesitant but joins, not because of humanity but because he just wants to see what Erwin sees.He wants to keep living,for his friends and now Erwin.

4/? “Humanities Strongest”//
In levis very first introduction we see how he shows an instant distain to this name. It’s a pressure and I think it’s just a small part as to why he doesn’t often show emotions. The humanity that he’s made to protect has given him-

a HUGE burden. I think that whenever that Levi fails at saving his comrades, fails at killing a titan, gets hurt,makes the wrong choice, he feels as though he’s not good enough. Like hes a failure.PICTURE CONTAINS SPOILERS SCROLL

Levi is not just some robot killing machine and I kinda think that the title bestowed on him just enforces that. Although it is used in a positive light and its a badass nickname, it doesn’t really do any good. It makes him feel worse, even tho he is the best solider.

Erwin- to prove his father’s theory right about the titans and to save humanity
Hange-To learn more about the titans
Eren-To exterminate the titans
etc-

-the point of that was to show how others knew what they’re were getting into and weren’t low-key blackmailed into joining. They all lived aboveground and knew what to expect. And prepared themselves. Levi also had to switch from a rundown, crime infested, dirty-

-heap, where violence was the really always the answer. But it was home and he had his family and was carefree. He then lost that family, left that home and was thrown into a completely different environment.He was no longer making orders he had to follow them.

Isabel&Farlan:his family,had the same struggles
His Squad:it was clear levi trusted them a lot,and they meant a lot to him
Kenny: his teacher,the reason he’s who he is today
Erwin:most trusted person,they had a special bond no one can deny.

nothing.

8/? What bad thing has he gained from the corps?//
He has developed insomnia which is when you can only sleep for a few hours or not at all. Sleeping is so important, especially for a soldier.
I do also believe that Levis cleaning obsession worsened when he joined the corps-

- I think before during the underground he was obsessed with cleaning because he was stuck in a room with a rotting corpse, and because the underground is just a dirty place in general. But in the corps he sees blood all the time and is always in contact with it just adds to his-

-cleanliness I also saw a theory, that Levi cleans for control in his life. He cannot control the loss of his friends but he can control the amount of dirt is on a surface. And of course he has also developed PTSD. Which his insomnia and cleaning is tied into.

9/?Levi in the manga now//
Levi failed again to kill zeke again and had to kill his comrades he knew for at least 3-4 years. He gets injured and Hange saves him. And he is not able to save Hange. I think Levi also has survivors guilt. Dating all the way back-

To when his mom died and he didn’t die with her.He’s now left alone with his squad, he does care about them but he needs to rest his injuries but he’s constantly straining himself just to be strong for them and not to be a burden to them and their fight

10/? the last person who knew him since OVA is gone. The biggest thing that’s keeping him going is his promise to Erwin. And I have a feeling Zeke is dead. So now what? Die fighting for the humanity he never wanted to give a damn about in the first place?Die fighting Eren

-who he respected and protected?Die knowing he never avenged his comrades, who went on suicide charge just so he could get a chance at killing the beast? Die wondering if really was ever “Humanities Strongest”?Die knowing/thinking that he failed his squad?

11/11 I’m wrapping this up or else I’m gon talk all day. The point is that Levi never wanted this. He never wanted to save humanity.(initially) He just wanted citizenship for him and his friends. He deserves rest and NOT in death-

-he deserves closure. To know their deaths are not his to carry. To turn around and enjoy life. To be happy,start a family, get a dog, start a tea shop, help out with Historias orphanage,help the people in the underground.His ending shouldnt be death&not in the corps.
