Wow, it’s been a year since the 2019 General Election. Feels like a lot longer!

Here are my memories of a tough day for Labour - with a bright spot as we win Putney, our only gain from the Tories.

3am: Rosena, Fleur & Marsha celebrate winning Tooting, Putney & Battersea
Campaign centres open in the small hours of the morning across Battersea, Putney and Tooting
Early voting is extraordinary busy, with long lines forming outside polling stations across the borough. A good sign?
The energy & dedication from campaign volunteers is incredible.

We frequently have more than 100 awesome volunteers at sessions in Putney and Battersea in the final week 👍
Thanks to a December election date, it was pretty cold and wet on the day 🌧
And it wouldn’t be an election campaign without a lot of time squeezed together in lifts 🛗
Fleur, Rosena & Marsha plus hundreds of passionate volunteers worked right through to 10pm to round up every vote.

The most fantastic team effort I’ve ever seen.

(Thanks also to Keir from Camden, who made the trip to campaign with us several times)
The polls close. Then the sickening exit poll comes through on TV.

We head to Wandsworth Town Hall for the count.

With Labour set to lose dozens of seats nationally, what will this mean for us Battersea, Putney and Tooting?
Putney - Labour gain!

Councillor Fleur Anderson becomes an MP.

The team heads to the Clapham Grand to celebrate & watch the rest of the night’s results
So a tough night for Labour ends with Wandsworth having three great MPs: Rosena, Fleur & Marsha.

It was an unbelievable General Election campaign in Wandsworth.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the ace organisers & the thousands of people who made it such a fun and worthwhile time 🌹
