@jessfields: "Everyone enters #healtheducation with good intentions & yet we have these #unintendedconsequences that concern us...How can we not get stuck on reassuring ourselves & others that we are good people, ... 1/2
...but instead wonder how - even though we are good people - things are happening as a result of or despite the work we are doing, & how can we interrupt that" 2/2
@megan_warin: "The compartmentalisation w/this focus on the individual & the latter of eating less & exercising more is so dominant, & even tho we have good interv progs on obesity which focus on socio-ecological approaches trying to address this, there is this #lifestyledrift"
@deanaleahy: We need to be able to look at #unintendedconsequences & to have those conversations - which are not popular!

(Gave eg of lunchbox inspections in schools 😖)

#healtheducation #publichealth
Oooh, so good to hear @SandroDemaio raise the pt that not all #healtheducation is delivered in good faith - a major contributor to health ed is parts of the private sector that are delivering it covertly... & overtly! #CDoH 💯✊
@ClairePalermo: Voice unheard in the preparation of health professionals particularly is that of the community - incl in decisions around where HPs should be doing placements, etc
@megan_warin Lots of lip service around interdisciplinarity, like there is re co-design. Also a recognition that there are knowledge hierarchies - what knowledge gets privileged, eg in obesity its biomedical, but excludes a lot of fantastic community (incl place-based) knowledge
