After all the vile abuses & sadistic comments for my thread on Karnataka govt's Anti-cattle slaughter bill, I thought I shud turn it around as a tribute to my father, who we lost last week.

He was a devout, temple-going Hindu who sported Chandana-Kumkuma even when he wore suits
But he enjoyed his beef & pork just as much as his chicken & fish. His mother fed & worshiped cows for 70+ years of her life. But animal sacrifice including buffaloes were a prominent practise in our village deity's temple. It continues to be in many many villages in the country
My father was a social man, had friends from every strate, caste, creed & religion. He saw all people as equal. That's why he never let his religious beliefs come in the way of anyone else's life choices- even his own daughters.
Like my father, many many devout Hindus eat meat- many of them beef. So this farce that HINDUS don't eat beef is just that - a FARCE!

Hindus who identify themselves as Upper Caste don't eat beef, perhaps. Them & those who want validation from them r d ones celebrating this bill
For me, being a Hindu will always mean what my father was. Practise your faith with conviction but don't let it ruin someone else's life & livelihood. He taught me how to pray, how to worship God. Your God doesn't live in your hatred for others.
