I took some time off Twitter last month and also managed to skip work for a day & solo hike part of the Tamsui-Kavalan Historical Trails in New Taipei, northeast of Taiwan, from 瑞芳 Ruifang to 福隆 Fulong (about 28 km). Here are some photos & feedback.
The Tamsui-Kavalan trails are a network of historical trails that long were the main routes connecting the Taipei basin to the Yilan plain. They have been restaured and promoted in recent years by @NewTaipeiGov, including with this newly launched website: https://tour.ntpc.gov.tw/TKTrails/
I have used this new website to chose my itinerary. On the website, each section of trail is identified with a code and features info on main spots not to miss on the way. It also provides GPS exchange format files to download & use with a hiking app.
The GPS data (one file per section) are accurate. Sadly, once downloaded, files are ranked by date of creation and names are a series of numbers and letters which makes it very hard to navigate. I suggest @NewTaipeiGov to rename these files using the same code as on the website.
