1.4 What is next for Covid in 🇱🇧? Recent reported numbers are below the record numbers registered in the prior weeks, with the exception of the number of critical patients. But, the test positivity rate remains high(>12%), and compliance with safety measures is still visibly low.
2.4 All this, and the activities planned for the holidays, will lead to another surge in numbers in the coming weeks. This will be bad for several reasons. Hospitals, despite the recent expansions, are working at high capacity. There are no additional staff for further expansion.
3.4 The dwindling liquidity at BDL will affect the subsidy on medical supplies. This week, many distributors withheld delivering requested orders. This will further disrupt hospital preparedness. Finally, even if the vaccine arrives on time, it will not have an immediate effect.
4.4 In short, the Covid outlook for the coming months is not good. This would be big news, if it weren’t for all the other bad news. Our biggest enemy now is not Covid, or even the financial crisis. It is apathy and indifference. What is worse than going to hell is staying there.
