Told you, isa pang hirit ng MASS TESTING NA YAN, gagawan ko talaga ng ‼️THREAD‼️ yan. So, here we go.

MY POSITION ON MASS TESTING--

This ad nauseam "Mass Testing Now" narrative by the opposition has been bugging social media for the longest time.

The wokes talk as if Mass Testing is the champion of all solutions to the country's COVID problems. This comes despite the country actually performing very well considering the original state of its healthcare facilities prior to the pandemic.
3/
WHERE ARE WE NOW?
6 MILLION COVID TESTS -- That is the current number of COVID tests administered by the Philippine healthcare system.
From 1 RT-PCR laboratory (RT-PCR is gold-standard for the detection of COVID-19) last February...
4/
the Philippines now brags 173 functional laboratories with an average of 35,000 tests a day.
The Philippines was Top 1 in ASEAN (beating economic giants such as Indonesia) in terms of TOTAL COVID TESTS until our good neighbor surpassed us just late last month.
5/
Not only that, the Philippines enjoys a positivity rate (total cases positive divided by total tests per day) of a range between 4-6% for the past 4 weeks. As per WHO, a positivity rate of less than 5% means the community is ready for reopening of its economy.
6/
Feel free to check the positivity rate of our neighbors. 4-6% is a very good number.
From a rank 20th in TOTAL cases, the Philippines now ranks at 29th, as of this writing. Not to mention we rank 43rd in terms of ACTIVE CASES.

WHAT DOES MASS TESTING MEAN?
The wokes must set things straight. Does Mass Testing mean testing a whole community? Or does it mean massive testing that is based on contact tracing? If they say that it's the latter, OUR GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN DOING IT SINCE APRIL!
8/
It can be remembered that the PH government is advocating for EXPANDED TARGETED TESTING.
Mind this following statement: (PHOTO)

Now for the sake of argument, and to my understanding, the wokes are advocating for the first definition of mass testing-- testing whole communities
9/
SO WHAT DOES RESEARCH SAY?
A research journal from Lancet pointed out that Mass Testing 5 Percent of a community's population every week will reduce transmission only by 2%. MEANWHILE, self-isolation of symptomatic cases with household quarantine will yield a reduction of 37%
10/
If you add contact tracing of work/school contacts and/or acquaintances, the reduction will yield AT LEAST 50%. That is 25x more effective than mere Mass Testing. So what does this mean?
12/
NOW, DO WE NEED MASS TESTING?
Short answer: No.
Long answer:
In our fight against COVID-19, the Philippine National Action Plan (Yes, we do have CONCRETE PLANS!) states that the approach shall be for prevention(social distancing, handwashing, wearing of face masks),
13/
detection(aggressive contact tracing, expanded targeted testing), isolation(self-isolation, community quarantine centers), treatment(One Hospital command, Mega Treatment Facilities, Hospitals), and reintegration(minimum health standards, awareness for possible reinfection).
14/
With all these strategies, the Philippines (a country with dense population areas, limited healthcare facilities at start, a low GDP per capita, and a THIRD-WORLD country title) is doing BETTER than several other wealthier countries.
15/
Now listen up, wokes! Mass Testing is PERFECT in an IDEAL world. However, given the circumstances of reality (Limited test kits, limited budget, logistical problems, healthcare facility strain, healthcare worker exhaustion, limited healthcare workers, marketing and advocacy..
16/
promotion challenges) do you think absolute mass testing is worth it? NO! Let's stick to the National Action Plan. It is working!
17/
Can you believe it? 6 MILLION TESTS! It's been months and these wokes can't even absorb this simple fact inside their lead-embedded skulls.

Mass Testing? More like Mass Pesting from these wokes!
